Hey I see lots of speculation about the spam stuff so I thought I would go ahead and set the record straight. I'm not associated with colin, starbase63, truespock, or anyone else. I've spammed startrek.com because they banned me and deleted every post I ever made over the years.
I had a lot of good discussions there, contributed to helping people with their technical problems with the site and even have reported people like that truespock fellow when he got around his bans and reported spam attacks myself. As far as I know I've never behaved trollishly at the site before about a month ago.
Someone started spamming startrek.com with "HA!" and simple stuff probably just by pressing the submit button really fast. That person started moving out of the Ten Forward section into other sections of startrek.com where I was posting. I reported and reported and reported. I waited a few hours and still the administrators did nothing about it. I had no idea there was absolutely no spam security on startrek.com's site.
Judgeing by how slowly they updated their website over the last couple years, I knew this guy's spam attack was too weak to be taken seriously by the administrators so I thought that if I launched an attack along with him that they then would do something about it. So I made about 10,000 posts to match his 2,000. I was able to spam the site all night long. I even left the spamming program run while I slept. Sure enough they put in the captcha thing shortly after that. I think they started banning people at random that were logged into the site that night and just happened to get me by luck.
Anyway I didn't spend hundreds of hours making posts there for my health. So I think it's fair enough that the administrators there spend a fraction of the time cleaning up my messes compared to the wasted time I've spent posting at their site over the years. Not to mention a fraction of the time that other people spent there in the past that got banned and removed like this.
I'm pretty sure they know who I am over there and are not interested in restoring my posts. As far as I am concerned this is the administrator's fault. I wouldn't have lost patience with them and did what I did had they not have taken better care of their site. If administrators enjoy deleting people's posts so much they can delete mine all day long now.
Attached is an old video recording of me spamming startrek. This was the spam alittle over a week ago I think where I placed large images of cans of spam as each topic.
Since the picture shown above I've put in options to register accounts quickly, it uses multiple accounts now to get around their posting auto ban, and now it uses POP3 to automatically activate those accounts. I'm thinking their next update might involve flood controls per IP address so I'll probably be putting in randomized proxies next time. I might create a public version of this program so that other people can have some fun too. Stay tuned :ph43r:
