I saw something on CNN today about surgery without opening someone up. Then they showed the scene with Picard having his heart surgery during episode "Samaritan Snare"
There was something on the news about Shatner pulling his pants down too.

My daughter-in-law just had her gallbladder removed through a three inch incision. She was up and hauling her two kids around the park within two days of the 'sugery'. Seems like a fairly big advancement to me!
